This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Response Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Updates Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Stories One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
